PLAY READING CIRCLE.
Under the auspices of the W.E.A. an effort is being made locally to form a play reading circle whose activities will comprise the reading of plays and also lectures by a suitable tutor on the most prominent of the modern playwrights. At the conclusion of the W.E.A. meeting last evening, an organising committee was formed with a view to promoting the formation of a class of this nature, tho committee comprising. Mrs D. 0. Williams; Miss McLeod, and Mr J. W. Davidson (secretary). It is proposed; to arrange an early meeting of the circle to which all those who are interested in the movement will be invited. The W.E.A. has a full library of plays and there will bo no difficulty in procuring sufficient copies for reading purposes. While in most large towns in Now Zealand there is some organisation devoting its attention to the reading or the acting of good plays, unfortunately there is no such institution in Palmerston North, and it is hoped that tho class to be formed by the W.E.A. by stimulating an interest in legitimate drama will fill a much needed want.
