Edward Mahood, aged 21. a recent arrival from England, pleaded guilty in the Magistrate’s Court to-day to converting to his own use a motor truck, valued at £3OO, the property of Mr Jeffrey McGlashan Inglis, of Riwaka, Nelson, also to the theft of a case of benzine, valued at 19s 6d, belonging to Mr Inglis, also to the theft of a pair of boots, valued at 20s, the property. of Mr E. W. Sharpe. : Mahood’s excuse was that he had been drinking. Accused was sentenced to two months’ hard labour on the conversion charge, and was convicted and discharged on the remaining counts.
