THE WEATHER
. GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, but a slight depression is developing in the 'Western, Tasman. Winds south-easterly in North Auckland and- parts of Cook Strait; elsewhere south to south-west; moderate generally, but fresh to strong at times in the northern and southern extremities of the Dominion. Seas rather rough in Foveaux Strait, and a considerable swell south of Cape Egmont ; otherwise smooth to moderate in Now Zealand waters. Moderate to fresh south-westerly winds and moderate to rather rough seas in the Eastern Tasman Sea. Weather fair to fine almost everywhere, but a few showers probable in the far north and south and in the East Cape district; temperatures cool to moderate. DISTRICT REPORT. A COOL NIGHT. The Government meteorologist wired to-day : —The indications are for moderate southerly winds. There is a prospect of fair to cloudy weather, with a cool night. The barometer has little movement.
