WIDOW COMPENSATED.

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, Feb. 25. The Arbitration Court gave judgment for plaintiff in a claim made by the widow of a seaman, William McLeod, against the Northern Steamship Company on account of injury to her husband’s left thumb, which, it was alleged, was ultimately the cause of his death from septicaemia. Deceased was assisting to splice two wire runners on the steamer Ngapuhi when a broken wire pierced his thumb. The compensation will amount to about £IOOO.
