After a month spent on his Canterbury property recuperating after his recent serious illness Mr A. J. Palmer has made an excellent return to health. The Mayor (Mr A. J. Graham) and the town clerk (Mr J. 11. Hutdie) will represent Palmerston North at the annual conference of the Municipal Association, which will open at Invercargill on Wednesday, March 5. Mr Edward Palgrave Davy, son of Rev. and Mrs E. Palgrave Davy, of Auckland, lias received an appointment as pilot offiepr in the Royal Air Force, and is proceeding to Egypt for training in the flying school at Abu Sueir. Mr D. Jones, M.P., chairman of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, will sail for London by the motor vessel Rangitane, on March 1, in connection with the board’s shipping freight contract. At a meeting of the board, Mr Thomas A. Duncan was appointed acting-chairman during Mr Jones’s absence. Mr G. E. Pollock, a member of the Invercargill Magistrate’s Court staff, who has been transferred to Feilding, was presented by the Invercargill branch of the Law Society with a handsome clock, and by the Southland Football Association, of which he is president, with a case of pipes, prior to his departure. At the Methodist Conference Wellington yesterday, Revs. A. Liversedge and J. E. Parsons (Palmerston North) were given leave to visit England this year, and it was resolved that they be accredited as representatives of the New Zealand conference to the British Wesleyans.
