OPERA HOUSE. To-night will seo tho production of the popular musical comedy “Tangerino” by Fullers’ Latest English Company at the Opera House. Freddie Forbes and Catherine Stewart tako tho two leading roles, and thoso versatile artists will delight Palmerston North as thoroughly as they delighted Wellington and Christchurch, where they achieved enormous porsonal popularity. “Tangerino” is _ a musical comedy satire, dealing with divorce under present-day conditions, and every ounco of fun has been extracted from this theme. The scone opons in tho alimony ward of the Ludlow Streot gaol, where three divorced husbands havo been imprisoned for refusing to pay alimony to their well-to-do wives. Comes their friend Dick Owens, very much annoyed because his fiancee has refused to marry him, saying that no one can make a success of marriage and citing her three girl friends (tho ex-wives of the impounded husbands) as warning examples. Eventually she promises to reconsider her decision if Dick can bring the throe couples together again. To do this he has them unbeknown to each other transported to the South Sea Isle of Tangerino, were a new regime has been established whereby the wives must work and support tho husbands. His scheme is threatened with dire failure for a time, but the final act sees everything straightened out and tho four couples aro re-united. Much hilarious comedy is introduced throughout the show and the whole production is outstanding as ono of tho funniest and cleverest plays presented in this country for a considerable time. Most tuneful of tho musical gems aro “Lovo is a Business,” “It's Great to be Married,” “Isle of Tangerine,” “Sweet Lady,” “Rough Stuff,” “South Sea Island Blues,” “Vamp me,” “You and I,” and “Lords of Creation.”. On Monday night, tho delightful musical comedy “Lido Lady,” will bo presented.
