BULLS
! (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Feb. 21. * The annual bowling match between the r commermial travellers of Manawatu and ' Wanganui districts will be played on the i Bulk Bowling Club’s green during the week-end. Great interest is taken in this fixture, and as most of the travellers are expert bowlers, the games are above the average. The Oroua Downs school picnic was held on the Bulk Domain to-day in overcast but fine weather. Parewarnui school picnic was held at the beach to-day also. Entries for the Bulls-Ohakea annual sports gathering, to be held on March 1, are very satisfactory, and a good all-round programme of running, cycling, Highland, schools (Vile Shield), Boy Scout and novelty events should draw a good crowd of spectators. On Thursday evening in the Town Hall supper room a large number of relatives and friends of Miss Gladys Harper gathered to wish her good luck and prosperity on the eve of her wedding. Mrs T. H. Green was the organiser of the function, and Mr V. Edwards made an efficient M.C Miss Harper was showered with good wishes, and,/ incidentally, a great assortment of household articles. Dancing, cards and competitions filled in a very enjoyable evening, Miesee Simpkins, Minnie Kearney and Cutta providing the dance music. Mrs Harper won the ladies’ prize for progressive euchre, and the men’s trophy was annexed by Mr R. Hart. Owing to motor sports and the like comjetitions being barred on Sundays on Bulls Domain, the Manawatu and Orion Motor Clube have changed the venue of their gatherings to other centres. The hearing of the Maoris’ claims to the Recreation Grounds has been postponed until the middle of March, when the Maori Land Court will sit in Bulls.
