CLAIM FOR DAMAGES

Per Press Association. AUCKLAND Feb. 19. A claim by Marjorie May Davidson for £1250 general damages and £lB7 medical expenses, as the result of a motor accident last June, was lreard in the Supreme Court to-day, before Mr Justice Smith and a jury of 12. The claim was made against Ngue Man, market gardener, of Avondale, as owner of a motor lorry involved, and employer of the driver, Wong Chee. The plaintiff suffered a fracture of the pelvis, and other serious injuries. She had to be carried into Court on a stretcher, from which she gave evidence. Medical witnesses expressed the opinion that it might be two years before she would be able to go about her normal duties again. The jury awarded £750 general damages, and £lB7 12s special damages, making a total of £937 12s. Counsel for plaintiff moved for judgment and counsel for defendant for leave to apply for a new trial on the ground that the verdict was against the weight of evidence. His Honour said that he would hear the motions at a date to be fixed.
