Another attempt to realise on the ill-starred Russian Crown jewels came to light to-day after the body of Mr Leopold Strasser, a diamond dealer, had been taken from the closed motor car in which he had driven into Long Island early this morning. In a pocket of Mr Strasser’s coat was a small typewritten memo, unsigned: ' ! lf the bearer is able to sell Mr Rockefeller two diamonds for a million dollars he will get twenty-five per cent, commission.” Mr Samuel Braisen, a diamond importer, told the police that he had commissioned Mr Strasser to sell two square cut stones, one brilliant green, the other pure golden, which were presented in 1842 by the Russian Grand Duke to the mother of the slain Czarina. Mr Braisen said that he purchased these stones in Belgium in 1922.
