GARRISON BAND.

CONTEST MUSIC PLAYED. Test selections for tho next New Zealand band contest at Dunedin were played by the Palmerston North Garrison Band at tho Showgrounds yesterday afternoon. Last evening the band gave an enjoyable programme under the baton of Lieutenant Cox at the Opera House. The numbers were as follow: Alarch, “Greetings”; hymn, “Fierce Raged the Tempest” ; trombone solo, Bandsman L. Carruthers; cornet solo, Bandsman B. Register; first test selection, “Victory”; selection, “Musical Switch”; hymn, “Eternal Father”; Sonata Pathetique (Beethovan); selection, “Alusical Fragments”; contest march.
