SAMOAN UNREST.

MILITARY POLICE FORCE. WILL TOTAL 250. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Feb. 8. Replying to a question to-day, Hon. G. W. Forbes stated that the maximum number oi men it was proposed to send into camp for the purpose of a military police force, in case it was found necessary to augment the police already on service in Western Samoa, was 250. No appointment had yet been made of an officer in charge of the force.

It is understood that the Government’s decision as to the necessity of sending reinforcements of police largely depends on the forthcoming visit to Samoa of the Minister of Defence, Hon. J. G. Cobbe, and that the matter may be deferred until his arrival there.
