LONGBURN FREEZING WORKS

ANNUAL PICNIC. A POPULAR~GATHERING. Although tho early portion of the morning did not appear to be at all certain, the dark ciouds lifted as the day advanced yesterday and a continuous line of picnickers wended their way to Messrs do Cieene’s property off Jickeli Street where the annual picnic of the Longburn Freezing workers was held. With trees to supply shado and shelter, as the case might be, the area proved to be an ideal picnic ground, the open spaces being used for the running off of a lengthy programme of sports which have come to be recognised as an outstanding feature of this organisation. Practically without cessation, the games and races were proceeded with quite merrily throughout the full course of the afternoon, while the rendition of a programme of music by the Mianawatu Pipe Band under Mr V.
