AOKAUTERE.
The passing of Mr Thomas Blenkiron in the Palmerston North Hospital on November l"4th removed from Aokautere a highly respected settlor. Deceased was born at Richmond, England, 46 years ago. Later, the family moved to Oakworth, and it was at the Wesleyan Methodist Day School in this village and at the Iveighly Technical School that he received liis education. Ho served an apprenticeship to stone-masoning, but later returned to farming. In October, 1908, he left 'England for New Zealand, arriving here in December. After four years’ farming in the Marton district, he entered the employment of Mr Balsillie at Kairanga, remaining there for the next six years. For the i>ast ten years he has worked his own land at Aokautere. The late Mr Blenkiron had been connected with the Methodist Church from infancy, and a large assembly of friends and relatives gathered in St. Paul’s Methodist Church, Broadway Avenue, for the service conducted by Rev. J. Ernest Parsons. Mr Blenkiron married while at Marton, and is survived by his widow and two sons and a daughter, all of Aokautere. Two brothers, Messrs F. G. and W. Blenkiron, are at Levin, and a brother, Mr J. H. Blenkiron, and three sisters, Misses E. H. and, L. Blenkiron and Mrs E. Agg, are in England-.
