WARNING TO TRAFFIC.

LEVEL CROSSING DANGER, HAMILTON, Nov. 5. What was regarded by members of the Hamilton agency of the Auckland Automobile Association as an excellent suggestion was made by the president, Dr. A. G. Waddell, last night. It was that the Railway Department should be rasked to erect automatic lights to warn motorists of the approach of trains at level crossings. Dr. Wadde|l considered that as all the railway signals were now automatic it should be a comparatively easy thing to construct automatio signals to warn motorists at the same time. This could be done by having a pillar at each dangerous crossing superimposed with a four-sided hooded light. Two sides would face up .and down the line and project a green light to the oncoming tram, at the same time displaying a red light up and down the road. The idea was generally commended and it was decided to forward it to the Railway Department and the Highways Board.
