FOR NAPIER TRAIN. ACTION BY DEPARTMENT. Matters connected with the lighting of engines of trains crossing the Square have recently been engaging the attention of the Mayor and he has received the following advice from, the .General Manager of Railways (Mr H. H. Sterling) : “Witli further reference to> yoar representations regarding the headlignts on engines passing through the. Square at Palmerston North, I desire to say that, as promised, I have looked into the particular case cited by you. “It appears that the engine to which you refer is that of the tram arriving from Napier at 8.19 p.m. and I have pleasure in informing you that arrangements have been made to provide an engine equipped with an electric headlight on this train as regularly as practicable.”
