THE WEATHER
GENERAL FORECAST. An anti-cyclone covers the Eastern Tasman Sea and New Zealand. Winds westerly in Otago and Southland, and mainly south-west to south elsewhere; light to moderate generally. Seas smooth or moderate generally. Light to moderate winds in the Eastern Tasman Sea; westerly in the southern portion; variable with south to southeast prevailing in the central and northern portions. Some scattered showers on the East Coast between Napier and East Cape; otherwise fine generally. Cold night temperatures with some light frosts inland; milder later. The indications are for fine weather almost generally during 'the week-end. DISTRICT REPORT. FINE WEATHER LIKELY. The Government Meteorologist telegraphed to-day The indications are for moderate southerly winds. There is a prospect of fine wdatlier; days bright and nights cold.
