FEILDING.

SWIMMING CLUB. (Special to “Standard.”) FEILDING, Oct. 12. The annual general meeting of members of the Feilding Amateur Swimming Club was held last night, Mr E. E. Short presiding over a good attendance. The annual report was adopted as follows. —“The season generally was a successful one, the first carnival being a complete success, but owing to the inclemency of the weather the last was run at a loss. Members of the club were successful at carnivals held in Palmerston North, Foxton, Marton, Pahiatua and Dannevirke. Members won the Levin Cup, open to teams of four swimmers from clubs. Miss B. Harford won the intermediate ladies’ championship, also the 50 and 100 yards ladies 1 championship. Miss P. Sporle won the 25, 60, 75 and 100 yards school girls’ championship, clipping seconds off the standard in each event. Such performances ae these would be outstanding in the records of any club. The following cups were competed for at the baths during the season:—Levin Cup (Feilding Club); Rangitikei Club Challenge Cup (W. Hirini, Foxton); Mrs Fisher’s Cup for school girls (B. Harford); Mrs Fisher’s cup for ladies’ club championship (B. Harford); Haybittle Cup (G. Gilchrist); Bramwell Bros.’ Cup for men's club championship (R. Bridge); Eade Cup (R. Bridge); Mr A. Campbell’s Cup (Bunnythorpe School). It is pleasing to report that full advantage was taken by the schools in the district of the privilege offered by the club towards tuition for children in the art Af swimming. Due to the energies of Mr H. G. Hall, headmaster st Lytton Street School, a sports meeting was held by the school and will be an annual fixture in future. Credit is also due to Messrs R. Mcllroy, W. H. McLean, H. Caiman, Elstone and the_ head teachers at the Stanway and Taonui schools and the Sisters at the local convent for their help to the club during the season. The sales have kept in the vicinity of the average and the club has pleasure in announcing that the running costs of the baths were considerably lower than last season. The Borough Council have also helped the club in its efforts to make the baths as up-to-date as possible. To all those who so generously helped during the season, the thanks cf the club are tendered and special mention must be made of the ladies’ committee, whose support end attention to the visitors have never been wanting.” ELECTION OF OFFICERS.
