TOWN CRIERS.

CHAMPIONSHIP CONTEST. Clad in their picturesque uniforms, 17 town criers participated the other day in a contest for the championship of England and Wales. The challengers included a former champion, who is reputed to possess a voice having a range of seven miles, and also the Folkestone town crier, Mr Anderson, aged 80, who claims to be the oldest crier in the country.
