TIMID HUSBANDS.
APPEALS TO MAGISTRATE. Four husbands timidly applied to the Willesden (Middlesex) magistrate for protection against their wives. The first said that his wife forced him to do the shopping and housekeeping and to submit the accounts. If he protested she was really violent. The magistrate refused a summons. The second was very nervous and brought his mother. He asked if the magistrate would prevent his wife assaulting him. The magistrate said that the problem was in soluble, but he would send a missionary to interview the wife. The third husband complained of persistent cruelty. He said his wife thrashed him every time lie came home. He got a summons. The fourth said that his wife hit him so hard that'he-was afraid to go home unless a policeman stood outside veady to help him if called- The missionary will tackle this- job also.
