(From Our Own Correspondent). ' FOXTON, Sept. 3.

Captain Holm is at present on a visit to Foxton. Mr J. L. Christie, accompanied by his wife, returned to Foxtoii on Monday where they will take up thenresidence. Mr Christie has been compelled to relinquish his position in Auckland through health reasons. Mrs I. Ross is at present on holiday in Foxton. Mrs John Ross of Thynne Street, left Foxton to-day on a holiday visit to her daughter, Mrs Crowe, of Auckland. . l . For possibly the first time in the history of the port ot Foxton, a motor lorry comprised part of the cargo of a boat visiting tho port. When t.m.v. Foxton arrived in port on Monday sho had on board as part of the deck cargo a large motor lorry chassis from Lyttelton. FOOTBALL. The football season in the Horowhenua district is now at an end. In tho senior grade the final game in the Nash Cup competition was played on Saturday when Wanderers won the trophy by defeating Otaki, the southern champions, by 8 points to three. The w-innors’ score consisted of a try by Jones, converted by McDonnell and a try by St. Clair which Skilton failed to convert. D’Ath scored Otaki’s only points. Tho points scored by the various teams in tills competition are as follow: Points. Ttl.
