WOMEN’S AIR DERBY.

PROGRESS OF THE RACE. Received August 25, .9.5 a.m. (Australian Press Association.) NEW YORK, Aug. 24. The women’s air Derby stopped at Wichita, Kansas, for the night, after a day in which no great misfortune met them, except that Miss Ruth Elder was lost for a time and then found her way again. The leaders to-night were Mrs Thaden, Mrs O’Donnell, Miss Earhart and Miss Nicholls, in that order. Mrs Keith Miller (of Australia) stands last, with an elapsed time of 26 hours 10 minutes 40 seconds, against Mrs .Thaden’s 12 hours 37 minutes 46 seconds. Miss Elder has announced her engagement to Mr Walter Camp, the son of the famous football coach. Mrs Perry was forced to withdraw and is dangerously ill with typhoid at Fort Worth, Texas.
