PURDY OUTPOINTED. SYDNEY, Aug. 23. At the Leichhardt Stadium to-night. Tommy Fairhall (10.0) outpointed Charlie Purdy (10.5) in a contest of 15 rounds. It was a hard, gruelling contest, in which the New Zealandor fought gamely. Fairhall opened moio confidently than Purdy. , He landed many blows over Purdy s heart and had him groggy in the Purdv received plenty of punishment right’through, but occasionally ho> ral lied and connected with Ins opponent sj chin and nose. Purdy’s eye was cu| and Iris nose bleeding early -n the coriSg test. Some of Purdy’s straight lefj|h delighted the crowd and he hadSffi large following.
