Received August 24, 10.0 a.m. SHANGHAI, Aug. 23. There has been little actual fighting during the past 24 hours in the Manchurian theatre of war. The Russians have been content with staging a raid in the vicinity of Manchuli, 300 alighting from an armoured train and peppering the Chinese garrison with machine guns. The Russians withdrew before heavy fire. There have been many small skirmishes too numerous to mention along the border. A report, which has not been verified, states that 4000 Russians are crossing Chinese territory north-west of Lake Sinkai. Definite action is expected in consequence of the arival of General Bleucher. The Chinese are preparing for the worst.
