PHYSICAL CULTURE.
MIND AS CONSTRUCTIVE FORCE.
In his second lecture in the R.S.A. Hall on physical culture last evening, Mr Alfred Blaxall, dealt with the mind as a constructive, force. Commencing liis remarks the lecturer stressed the dominance of mind over matter and puointed out the tremendous power -* of constructive thought. Men and women should react to life’s adversities 'and not allow misfortune to upset their poise. Mastery of self alone could give poise and mastery of self could only- be obtained through control of the emotions. The science of the unconscious mind was explained by Mr Blaxall and also the effect of different- emotions upon the glands of the body. Some thoughts and emotions increased respiration, while others increased the heart’s action. The lecturer then dealt extensively with the benefits that physical culture ensured, pointing out how it strengthened and invigorated the whole system. He quoted several interesting examples to illustrate his statements. Proper living conditions and proper diet were essential to health.
