damage in n.s.w. AIANY HOAIES ABANDONED. (United Press Association —By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) Received Julv 1, 12.5 p.m. SYDNEY, July 1. Advices from Lismoro state that the Richmond River is rising rapidly and is now 29 feet above normal. About 80 families have abandoned their, homes. Two hundred houses in various parts of tho town are surrounded by water. 1 On' Saturday a gale of a velocity of 70 miles an hour struck the district, driving before it torrential rain, with the result that creeks and rivers at Lismoro were flooded and many people were trapped in their homes. Several people are missing. Eire added to the terror at Ballina. Fanned by the gale the flames gutted the principal business section. The damage is estimated at £30,000. Eight inches of rain fell at Lismore in 48 hours. A lull in the storm has removed the immediate danger.
