MUSICIANS MEET.

ANNUAL MEETING OF PALMER STON NORTH BRANCH.

Mr J. Holmes Runnicles presided over a large attendance at the annual meeting on Saturday evening of the Manawatu branch of the New Zealand Society of Professional Teachers of Music. . , . , The report reviewed the activities of the branch during the year, while the balance-sheet disclosed a credit of £241 with no liabilities. The officers elected were:—President: Mr J. Holmes Runnicles; vice-presi-dents, Messrs C. East and J. Garde Grimshaw; lion, secretary, Mrs A. Attwood; hon. treasurer. Miss E. Rawlins ; council, Mrs J. K. Patou, Miss E. Mountfort (Marton). The president, in his address, stressed the need for close co-operation between music teachers and the vital necessity for at least a monthly meeting for mutual adavancement. Tho meeting, therefore, resolved to institute a series of lectures. Miss Valerio Corliss, of Wellington, is to bo asked to deliver tho first. The lectures will be open to all music teachers on the society’s membership roll. Among the number present were members from Foxton, Feilding and Marton: Apologies for absence were received from Mother Mary Winifred, Madame Lelioro (Hastings), Mrs Lovelock, Misses Buchanan, Emmett, Shaniv and E. Woodfield, Messrs Edniundsen (Stratford) and A. Lawson (Dannevirke).
