At tho conference of tho South Island Dairy Association a remit was adopted that the department bo urged to insist on a more strict observance of the dairy regulations, particularly those relating to the cooling of milk and tho cleanliness of bvres. it was stated that the bad milk supplied was the cause of the openness in cheese and that tho regulations had been a dead letter. . One delegato expressed the opinion that if tho regulations were strictly enforced it would cost many farmers £l5O to reconstruct their plants and many would be driven from tho industry.
