CHARGE OF FALSE REPRESENTATION. Per Press Association. CHRISTCHURCH, June 6. Samuel Bates, labourer and horse trainer, of Orari, and Leslie Holland appeared before tlie magistrate tins morning charged that on June 3, at Christchurch, with intent to defraud, they attempted to obtain from the Canterbury Trotting Club £159 by means of'falsely representing that a trotting horse nominated as Imperial Thorpe was not identical with the trotting horse Bruce. They were remanded till June 13, bail being allowed in £IOO and one surety of £4OO each. Tins is a sequel to the impounding of Imperial Thorpe at the trotting meeting at Addington on Monday. The Chief-Detective stated that other charges were pending, the sum of £4OO in stake money being involved.
