! RANGITIKEJ GOLF CLUB. (From Our Own Correspondent.) BULLS, Juno 3. Perfect weather prevailed on Saturday and a large number took part in the Canadian foursomes competition. The best card handed in was that of A. J. Law and John Trieker, which read: 86 —24—62. THE HOLIDAY. The town was deserted on Juno 3, golf players of both sexes visiting Castlccliff; football enthusiasts being divided between Rugby at Wanganui and soccer at Flock House; sportsmen being away at Otaki and Auckland races; and riflemen at the Patca Association matches. FOR THE SCHOOL. There was a good attendance at tho Jrst of the series of progressive euchre parties in aid of tho school funds, held in the Town Hall supper room on Friday evening. Prize-winners were: Lady’s prizo, Mrs Joseph Ellery; men’s prize, Mr F. F. Ralfe. PERSONALS. Mrs F. Garard is visiting Wellington. Mr Phil. Doughty has gone to tho Great Northern meeting. Mrs T. 11. Green and Miss Green are spending a few days in Wellington. Messrs E. and T. 11. Green left by car on S a turday for'Auckland. Mr and Mrs Rupert Mackay are away in Wellington for a short holiday. Messrs Soler, Huddlestone, C. M. Broughton and E. Broughton are taking part in tho riflo shooting at Patea. RACEHORSE DESTROYED. During the week Mr E. A. Caldow received advice from his trainer, O. Cox, of Hawera, that Euphonium had broken down hopelessly, tho trouble being tho recurrence of an injury to a knee, and there was nothing left but to order the destruction of tho gelding. Euphonium was bred in Bulla by Mr J. B. Gaisford, who raced tho horso for a time in partnership with Mr Caldow, tho latter securing tho horse outright after he won the Levin Cup. Other victories followed; notably tho WaverlcyWaitotara Cup, Patca Cup and Patea Handicap. Stakes won by the *Ely6ian gelding totalled £3152 10s. RANGITIKEI LODGE. The regular fortnightly meeting of y Lodge Rangitikei No. 14, 1.0.0. F., was held on Thursday evening, N.G. Bro. Forbes presiding over a fair attendance of members. One member was reported sick. An invitation was received from Hylton Lodge (Aramoho) to a birthday dance, to bo held in tho Druids’ Hall on Tuesday, Juno 4. Tho secretary was instructed to procure three degree books from the Grand Lodge. N.B. Bro. Forbes reported having journeyed to Rangiotu with several members of this lodge for tho opening of tho Rangiotu Lodge, a very pleasant evening being spent. After tho meeting a team of card players met representatives of Kopano Lodge (Rongotea) for tho Mathieson Shield, victory resting with tho holders (Rangitikei) by 21 games to 13, two games being incompletcd.
