JUNIOR CHAMPIONSHIPS. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, May 16. The first New Zealand junior hard court tennis championship tourney was continued to-day on the indoor courts of the Winter Show Association. In 'the boys’ singles H. R. Escott (Canterbury), J. Bradley (Wanganui), M. Perkins (Wellington) and W. G. Robertson (South Canterbury) have reached the last eight. To reach that stage also to-morrow J. Rewiti (Maori) v. F. Gallagher (South Canterbury), E. Roussell (Wellington), v. R. Smith (Auckland), T. Allison (Wanganui) v. R. ; Brownlee (Auckland), D. Coombe (Wairarapa) v. J. M. Rodgers (ManawatU) will play. In the girls’ singles two girls only have reached the last eight, namely Joan Ward (Taranaki) and I. Morrison (Canterbury). To reach that stage others who will play to-morrow are: D. King (Wellington) v. D. Millar (North Otago), M. Purcell (Wanganui) v. M. Colson (Auckland), B. Sutherland (South Canterbury), v. J. Maginness (Canterbury), H. Cox (Otago) v. Jean Ward (Taranaki), B. Griffiths (Auckland), v. L. Poole (Canterbury), J. Chambers (Auckland) v. J. Burns (Wellington). In the boys’ doubles those who have reached the semi-finals are Roussell and Ferkins (Wellington), Robertson and Gallagher (South Canterbury), Brownlee and'Milne (Auckland), while Allison and Bradley (Wanganui) have yet to meet Cowley and Livingstone (Waikato) to reach that stage. In the girls’ doubles those in the semi-finals are Joan and Jean Ward (Taranaki) and M. Howe and D. King (Wellington). For the right to enter that stage J. Burns and I. Howe will play I. Poole and M. Mathieson (Canterbury) and J. Chambers and M. Colson (Auckland) will play M. Purcell and C. Longmore (Wanganui).
