DRIVER OF A MOTOR CAR. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 15. Having pleaded guilty to a charge of being in a state of intoxication while in charge of his motor-car in Newmarket yesterday afternoon, Harold Owers, aged 27, was fined £SO by Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., at the Magistrate’s Court to-day. The Magistrate also cancelled defendant’s driver’s license for twelve months. Tho police stated that Owers drove his car along Remuera Road at a fast speed and touched the mudguard of a stationary vehicle in Broadway. A constable then interviewed him and found Owers to be in a state of intoxication. . Dr. Pezaro, who examined Owers, provided a certificate which stated that aßhough not drunk defendant had consumed sufficient liquor to mar his judgment and render him unfit to have control of liis car.
