AMERICAN NAVY.
NEW CONSTRUCTION. TWO GREAT BATTLESHIPS. (Australian Press Association.) WASHINGTON, April 20. Authority to construct two great battleships of 35,000 tons will be asked from Congress this year, according to Admiral Hughes, Chief of Naval operations. These will rejjlace the Wyoming, Florida and Utah under tho provisions of the Washington Treaty, which provides for the scrapping of these ships at the end of 1934. The new ships will exceed 21 knets and will have the usual deck armour protection against aircraft bombers.
