LONGBURN SCHOOL.

MEETING OF THE COMMITTEE (From Our Own Correspondent.) LONGBURN, April 10. Mr W. Weddell presided over a full attendance of the Longburn School Committee last evening. The headmaster reported tho roll number to be 135 with an average attendance of 123. Inspectors Lambourne and Crawford have expressed approval of tho work generally. Mr Hills, tho headmaster, on behalf of the teaching staff, thanked tho outgoing committee for tho splendid work they had done and for tho keen interest they had taken in the wclfaro of the school. This had enabled tlie committee and tho staff to work as one for the benefit of all. Tho chairman, on behalf of the committee, heartily reciprocated the headmaster’s remarks. Advice was received from the board that a grant of £lO towards forming a new basket ball ground and £5 towards repairs to the drive had been granted. The secretary was instructed to write to the Education Board thanking them for the consideration and assistance rendered to tho outgoing committee during their term of office.

Tho sanitary system of tho school has been subjected to a complete overhaul by the Education Board and is now functioning satisfactorily. Good progress is being made with the new basket ball ground which will be completed at.an parly date. Accounts passed for payment amounted to £3 18s.
