POLICE COURT.

SHORT SITTING TO-DAY. Charged with having indecently assaulted a female at Palmerston North,' on March 31, Lionel Clifford Nimmo, a labourer, of Wellington, aged 20 years, was remanded by Messrs F. Aisher and A. J. Graham, J.P.’s, in the Police Court this morning, until Wednesday next. Bail was allowed in one surety of £IOO in self, and two sureties of £SO each. Patrick Heeney, a labourer, aged 52, was convicted and discharged when he pleaded guilty to being found drunk in Cuba Street on March 29. Heeney, who was convicted for a similar offence on March 19, asked that he be given a chance, stating that he had work to go to. The Bench advised him to get to work immediately and that, if he appeared before the Court again he would be sent to Wellington.
