EXTENSION OF EDUCATION. GRANT FROM CARNEGIE INSTITUTE. Per Press Association. DUNEDIN, March 22. The secretary of the Otago provincial branch of the Farmers’ Union reported at a meeting yesterday that Professor Strong, of the hpme science department of Otago University, had received advice that the trustees of Carnegie Institute had made a grant of £ISOO per annum, commencing from January, 1930, for the purpose of carrying out education extension work in the rural districts. The grant was to be expended in Otago and Southland. A board comprising Sir James Allen, Colonel Studholm and Mr H. D. Acland was suggested to administer the funds.
