ITALIAN PREMIER.
LABOUR INTERVIEW.
INFORMATION WRONG.
(Australian and New Zealand Press Association). LONDON, March 10. The Sunday Express publishes an apology to Messrs Walter Citrine and Sassenbach, in respect of its article reporting an alleged interview between them and Signor Mussolini. The paper says it learns that 6uch an interview did not occur. It regrets that its usually reliable channel of information proved a source of error.
On January 13 the Sunday Express stated that Mr Citrine, secretary of the Trades Union Congress, and Mr Sassenbach, secretary of the International Federation of Trades Unions, went secretly to Rome to persuade Signor Mussolini to allow Italy to join the Federation. The paper said that after haranguing for 65 minutes Mussolini showed the deputation out without agreeing to their wish. Mr Citrine described the statement as a preposterous fabrication, and denied that he saw Signor Mussolini on his trip to Italy. He stated that he was considering what steps were open to him to deal with tho statement.
