KILLING AT WESTFIELD.
PROTEST AGAINST INCREASE. DISCUSSION AT CHRISTCHURCH. CHRISTCHURCH, A!arch 1. A letter from the Auckland executive of the Farmers’ Union asking for support for its protest against the killing quota of the Westfield works being increased was the subject of discussion by the executive of the North Canterbury branch of the Farmers’ Union. The letter had been held oyer from the previous meeting pending the receipt of information. The chairman, Mr R. T. McMillan, reported that he had interviewed the chairman of tho Meat Board, Air D. Jones, AI.P. The report and discussion were taken in committee, and on resuming the following resolution was adopted: “That, this meeting urges a better system of inspection of works to see that the conditions in which extra licenses are granted are carried out.”
