LIST OF HONOURS
WOMEN RECIPIENTS. (Jfnited Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright.) (British Official' Wireless.) Received March 2, 1.50 p.m. RUGBY, March 1. In the list of New Year honours, of three orders 'of ’ the Companion of Honour, two are conferred on women. Dame Edith Lyttelton is advanced to be a Dame of the Grand Cross, five women become Dames Commander, while the honour of Officer of the British Empire is conferred on eleven women, and that of a member of the sam© order on 18 women. Among the men who receive honours, the majority are conferred for political and public services. The Prim© Minister’s list, however, includes three elevations to the peerage of whom not one has been conspicuous in Conservative politics. Sir Jesse Boot is a Liberal in politics, but he has been a generous donor to charities and is regarded as the chief founder of tho Nottingham University. The eminent surgeon, Sir Berkeley Moynihan, is the second of the great surgeons to receive a peerage, the first having been Lord Lister, in 1897.
