SANDON NOTES.

PLUNKET GARDEN PARTY.

(From Our Own Correspondent). SANDON, Feb. 14. Tho garden party held yesterday afternoon at the home of Mr and Mrs J. F. McKelvie, Carnarvon, was most successful. Tho attendance was estimated to be well over 300. Tho majority took tho opportunity of having a stroll through the gardens and apparently all were well pleased. The various competitions were well patronised during the afternoon, the officials in charge working hard to keep patrons -on the move. The afternoon tea served on the verandah was well patronised and the attendants had a busy time. Towards the end of the afternoon Mr J H. Perritt, before asking Mr J. Linklater to present the prizes won, took the opportunity of thanking Mr and Mrs McKelvie for the use of tho grounds for the function and also all those ladies who liad assisted to make the gathering such a success. , , , Mr Linklater said that he was pleased to be present and called for cheers for Mr and Mrs McKelvie. He congratulated the winners of the various competitions and handed the trophies to tho winners then present. . The successful competitors were as follow Picture, Mrs F. Mason, Feilding; doll, Miss Shirley Sadler, Sanson; best worked apron, Mrs Banks and Mrs Anion equal, a trophy to be awarded to each; most useful apron, Mrs J. Gibbons, Carnarvon ; fancy apron, Miss Perrett, Sanson; time guessing, Mr David Wilson; pea guessing, Mr E. Broughton; clock croquet, Mr G. R. McKenzie; cake guessing, Mr W. Burne; golf putting, gentlemen, Mr Pry do; ladies do., Miss J. Cornfoot and Mrs Pryde, equal; chain step, gentlemen, Mr P. Scott, ladies do., Miss McKelvie. sheep guessing, Mr E. May and Mr G. Francis, equal. The officials in charge of stalls were: Fancy, Mrs Sadler and Mrs Tostivin; produce, Mrs Bond and Mrs Adams; ice cream, Miss Perrett and Miss Penny; afternoon tea, Mrs _ Francis, Mrs Grace and a number of assistants. The estimated net takings is in the vicinity of £9O. This result is very satisfactory and will put tho funds of the local branch in a healthy condition.
