DOWN THE LINE.
(From Our Own Correspondent.) OTAKI, Fob. 13.
The first of a series of socials was held on Monday night at the Parish Hall when prizes were won by Mesdames Seal and Winterburn. Dancing and supper were enjoyed. Mr Armitage will represent tho Otaki Methodist Conference to bo held at Auckland on the 21st inst.
Revs. Fathers Bell, Rasmussen and Maynard are among tho visitors to Otaki. Rev. Father Fraher, who was operated on on Monday, is making good progress. Dr. Stout has returned to Wellington after a brief stay in Otaki. Mr G. Murphy is at present in the Palmerston North Hospital where he underwent an operation for appendicitis yesterday. Messrs W. and H. Fielding left to-day for a motor tour of the South Island.
A local resident, who recently found a large piece of tallow, has been hoarding it up, thinking it was ambergris. Mr Leo Jensen and Miss Stella Gawler were yesterday married at TeiHoro by Rov. G. K. Mair. In the evening a dance was held.
Mr Frank Roydhouse, Government drill instructor, paid a visit to the Otaki Stato School to-day. Twelve bowlers have signified their intention of journeying to Karori on Saturday to indulge in a friendly contest.
