OIIVILLE AND THE LATE WILBUR WRIGHT.

AWARDED DISTINGUISHED FLYING CROSS.

(Australian Press Association —United Service.) Received December 22. 11.30 a.m. WASHINGTON, Dec. 21. President Coolidge to-day signed a measure awarding the Distinguished Flyino- Cross to Mr Orville Wright and the late Mr Wilbur Wright.

Mr Orville Dright was born at Dayton, Ohio, in 1871. With his brother, Mr Wilbur Wright, he was the first to fly with a heavier-than-air machine, on December 17, 1903, and with his brother Wilbur, he was the ’ inventor of the system of control used in all flying machines of to-day.
