BOWLING. (From Our Own Correspondent). BULLS, Dec. 21. Bulls bowlers visited Huntervillo on Wednesday afternoon, two rinks playing in the Rangitikei Shiold match, and another in an inter-club game. Hunterviile proved too strong, and won both shiold games by big margins, but the interclub game resulted in a win for Bulls. A feature of one of the shield games was the good start made by the Hunterville rink, which scored eight against Steven’s rink on the first head SCHOOLS BREAK-UP. Wednesday afternoon saw troops of happy children making their way homeward, all carrying piles of books (prizes and school books) and filled with glad anticipation of the summer vacation commencing. Teachers also are glad of the respite from labour, and many are leaving tho district for other schools in the Now Year. Leave takings by last year pupils were also common, tinging the joy of holidays with a touch of sadness. BULLS SCHOOL. Parents and frionds gathered in good numbers at Bulls School on Wednesday I afternoon, and the pupils rendered a brief musical programme. Mr F. A. Holland, a member of the School Committee, addressed the assembly, and. paid a tribute to the good work of the headmaster, Mr W. Olson, and tho teaching staff. The results of the examinations had been very satisfactory, and, thanks to Mr Olson’s interest in the school, it was now one of tho most up-to-date in the country districts. The new play area in concrete, with tennis court, was well worth tho cost and the surroundings were a crodit to the staff. lie expressed pleasure at the attendance of old girls and old boys of I the school, and hoped that thoso of tho present period would always remember tho old Bchool, and in after yoars would take I an intorest in it, Many of tho pupils woro leaving tho school for tho greator school of life, and he wishod them succoss in tho future. Mr Olson thanked the children and the teaching staif for their co-ordination during tiie year. Ho said that ho was mainly responsible for tho absonco of prizes. Ho did not favour the system, and if they did not all depart with tlierr hands full of trophies, they would leave with something else full, and he thanked tho parents for providing such a splendid feast of cakes, sweets, etc. Afternoon tea was handed round on the lawn, and parents and visitors were provided with tea in tho high school later.

Mr Holland presented tho trophies won in tho tennis tournament to Zelma McGregor and Clifford Button, and also to the runners-up, Minnie Koarney and Jack Bromley. Proficiency and competency certificates were also presented to tho successful candidates. ’ , GLYNEATH SCHOOL. Rov.
