Nominations for the general election closed at noon' to-day. The chief returning officer reports that there are contests in all the constituencies, including the Maori electorates. There are two candidates only in the following: Bay of Plenty, Otago Central, Buller, Christchurch East, Christchurch South, Clutha, Dunedin Central, Egmont, Franklin, Hutt, Invercargill, Kaipara, Mataura, • Motueka, Napier. Nelson, Oroua, Patea, Stratford, Temuka, Timaru, Wairau, Waitaki, Wellington North and Westland.
