RUGBY CONTROL

MANAWATU DISTRICT COUNCIL. A meeting of tho Manawatu Rugby District Council was held last evening when there wero present Messrs J. A. Colquhoun (in the chair), Iv. W. Eglinton, H. Crawford, H. Hands, P. G. Burlace, J. R. Hardie, R. Blv, A. J. Trovona, R. E. Hatch and E. Clevely. The Stanway School Committee wrote inviting co-operation in the purchase of a football, an outlay of 18s having already been made.—Referred to tho Primary Schools’ Association for consideration. Tho Feilding Old Bovs’ Club wrote, in reply to the council’s letter seeking an explanation for its default to Athletic in tho senior grade, stating that the secretary had not been acquainted with tho rule and had deemed it sufficient to notify the council secretary.— Received. The St. Patrick’s Club wrote entering a protest against Old Boys B for having played two unregistered players in 1. Edwards, a Te Ivawau SubUnion senior represntative, and S. Daws, of the Technical School.—The chairman mentioned that the lastnamed was eligible. The Old Boys Club wrote advising that tho St. Patrick’s Club had committed a similar breach by playing R. Cameron, ail unregistered player.—lt was decided to order tho game to bo replayed. T’lio To Kawau Sub-Union requested that a ruling be secured from the Now Zealand Rugby Union on the following query: “Can a man who is an active playing member ot another union, visiting our territory on holiday for a month, and after residing for the 1-1 clear days, play in our union without first obtaining a clearancq from the club or union in which lie is a playing member?”—lt was decided to forward the query on for a ruling. The question of donating trophies to tho winners of the midget competition was raised by Mr Hatch, his suggestion that medals be given to the winners at Palmerston North and Feilding being acted upon. The secretary reported that a number of jerseys which had been loaned to the Manawlienua Union had disappeared and it was decided to_ make a claim on the Manawlienua Union for same.
