FURNACE EXPLOSION.
MIRACULOUS ESCAPES.
TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.
Received September 7, 9.5 a.m. SYDNITt, Sept. 6. The blast furnace of the steel works at Pont Kembla exploded, injuring 23 workmen) three of them seriously. Hundreds of tons of bubbling molten metal shot from the gigantic furnace r.nd flowed over the adjoining railway lino, forming into sheets of iron which had to bo cet away afterwaids by oxy-acotyleno machines and then shifted by a crane.
It is considered miraculous that tho workmen escaped so luckily.
