SMASH NEAR ADELAIDE,

DEATH OF MECHANIC

Received Sentember 5, 9.5 a.m. ADELAIDE, Sept. 4. An aeroplane travelling from Melbourne to Adelaide crashed fourteen miles outside Adelaide.

The pilot, Captain Scott, and the mechanic, George Nutson, were injured, . the latter fatally. Captain Scott behaved heroically. Although badly injured himself he dragged Nutson from the burning ’plane and then walked a long distance through crops and boggy country to a lonely farmhouse, whore lie obtained assistance. Tho accident was due to bad visibility. Tho aeroplane struck a hilltop.
