DOCTOR’S WIFE KILLED,

AUCKLAND, Sept, 4. Mrs Dukes, wife of Doctor E. S. Dukes, was killed to-night through being struck by a tramear in Upper Symonds Street during heavy rain. When the tramear was pulled up i: was discovered that Mrs Dukes w;iwedged on the lifeguard under tb motorman’s platform and she could ' extricated only by obtaining a jack. As these are not carried on tramcars, -me had to be secured from the nearest jack station, ten minutes elapsing between tlie time Airs Dukes was struck and her extrication. Her injuries included a fractured skull and she died on the way to the hospital.
