CENTRAL SCHOOL
MEETING OF COMMITTEE. Tito regular monthly meeting of the Central .School Committee was held last evening, Mr W. Mayes presiding. Also present were Messrs B. «J. Jacobs, H. J. Canton, F. S. Hubbard, W. H. Cameron. C. Cater, C. Taylor, and 10. Tucker (secretary). An apology for absence was received from Mr A. Clark. Tiro following report was submitted by the headmaster, Mr JO. Bary: ‘•The attendance during the past month lias. been .greatly affected by the prevalence of influenza and colds, tlio average being 70S out of a roll call of 800. Dr. Gunn, medical inspector, visited the school and examined the infant department and several of the standard classes. A visit was also-paid by Mr Lange, agricultural instructor, when the grounds tor the new agricultural plots were inspected. On August 10, standard (5 gave a concert, raising the sum ot £9 JOs. We wish this amount, as well us the sum of £5 10s in hand, to he used for the purpose of supplying permanent playing material in the form of porallel ladders, swings and sec-saws.” Adopted.
It was decided to proceed with the completion of the electric light extensions and a tender for the work was accepted. The chairman reported that the stairways had been repaired and were now in good condition.
