A TRUANT SCHOOLBOY.
SON IMPERSONATES FATHER
TELEPHONE TALK AND SEQUEL.
SUVA, Aug. 2". The headmaster of a school not 100 miles from Suva suspended a boy who had so consistently played truant as to merit drastic treatment. The same afternoon the headmaster was called to the telephone and a voice announced itself as that of the father of the erring boy. There was something familiar in the voice, however and the head suddenly realised that it was the boy himself speaking. The “father” was allowed t<J carry on. Ho apologised abjectly and tearfully for the delinquencies of Ills son and' suggested in some detail the amount of punishment which he should impose. He would be very grateful if he would carry out this punishment and take him back on these terms.
The master fully apreciated the situation and consented to take back tlio erring boy on the terms suggested. Later the boy turned up and the master inflicted punishment along the lines suggested by the “father.” A new riddle is now going round the classes: Should a boy be his own father and, if he is, should ho not be kind to his son?
