STRENUOUS CONTEST.

THYE DEFEATS NICIIOL S. SYDNEY, Sept. 3. The light heavy-weight wrestling championship of the world was won by Thye, who defeated Nichols by one fall to nil in six rounds. The match was staged at the Stadium. According to information by wireless, tho match had a rather sensational finish. Nichols was behind Thye and caught him from tho back round the wakt. Thye immediately flew backward . causing Nichols to lose his balance. Nichols fell on his back with Thy© on top of him. Nichols had 6truck tho boards rather hgavily and was rather stunned. Immediately Thye pinned him to the mat and gained tho fall. It was found that Nichols, as the result _ of tho fall, was too badly injured to finish and his seconds threw in the towel. Thye was in a very groggy condition, and it was the opinion that would Inrvo won but for this unfortunate mishap.
